home (2019)
“Home” was originally created as a submission for Lynn Hanson Gallery’s annual “ICON” exhibition. When the show was canceled that year due to unforeseen circumstances, it became the centerpiece for my September 2019 show in the Wenatchee Art Walk.
A homepage icon is formed by swirling, handwritten text that reads, “There’s no place like home.” While this line was widely popularized by the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, it was first pushed into the public consciousness by John Howard Payne’s 1822 song “Home! Sweet Home!”
The original piece was approximately 16 x 15 inches, composed with a black 005 Sakura Pigma Micron ink pen on Bristol smooth surface paper. To complete this piece, I projected the homepage icon, traced it in pencil, and then carefully erased the marks after I filled in the space with text.
This piece is only available as a print, limited edition of 25.
