Revolution Hall (Portland, OR) - February 2, 2024

Joe John Sanchez III (he/they) is a Portland-based artist and stand-up comedian. Their style can best be described as manic, neurotic, and unfortunately adorable.

Throughout their life, they longed for an ideal performance outlet, experimenting with theater, dance, and even a short-lived stint as a queer rapper.

In 2017, they took their first step toward comedy at the Peoples Improv Theater in NYC, delivering a bizarre performance art piece inspired by the equally bizarre #DrinkUpAshanti social media campaign.

Two years later, they made the jump to standup at an alternative art space in Wenatchee, WA. Their first set included a long-winded, inappropriate joke about The Little Mermaid. Somehow, this earned them a spot opening for Graham Kay at the Numerica Performing Arts Center.

After taking a break due to that whole “global pandemic” thing, they moved to Portland and returned to the stage in March 2022.

Within their first two years back, they performed on the Ha Ha Harvest Festival, appeared on Don’t Tell Comedy, and got voted a two-time quarter-finalist in Portland’s Funniest Person.

In 2024, they were voted as one of Willamette Week’s Funniest Five and selected as one of the Portland Mercury’s Undisputable Geniuses of Comedy.

Across the country, they have taken the stage at SF Sketchfest, the LGBTLOL Queer Comedy Fest, a weekend residency at East Austin Comedy Club, and were chosen for Best of Fest at the 2023 Burbank Comedy Festival.

They are are currently the producer of four local comedy showcases focused on uplifting LGBTQIA+ talent - Fluid Comedy, Defiant Joy, Exquisite Nonsense, and Be Gay Do Crime.

Their mother, however, is most proud of that time they were an extra on Gossip Girl in 2008.
