A WEED IS BUT AN UNLOVED FLOWER (2019)

A Weed Is But An Unloved Flower - Squarespace.jpg

“A Weed Is But An Unloved Flower” was created for Confluence Gallery’s 2019 exhibition “DIG IT!”. Negative space forms a floral pattern, surrounded by handwritten text that includes the opening line from Ella Wheeler Wilcox's 1911 poem "The Weed".

The original piece was 11 x 14 inches, completed with a black 005 Sakura Pigma Micron ink pen on vellum paper. To complete this piece, I adapted a floral wallpaper pattern and projected it onto the paper, tracing it in pencil, and carefully erasing the pencil lines once the negative space was surrounded by text.

This piece is only available as a print, limited edition of 25.
